Description

The Ferrari 250 SWB Competizione is the most desirable Ferrari of all time and the ultimate example of form following function. With the average value of donor cars escalating beyond the viability of economics and demand outstripping supply, prices of these desirable classics are continually rising.
Using an original 1961 SWB Ferrari Competizione as a template, the lightweight aluminium (1.1mm) body and steel chassis were crafted with absolute accuracy by internationally renowned Netherlands based company, Hietbrink Coachbuilding.
Over the past decade the owner collected and restored period correct 1960’s parts from Ferrari 250 and 330 donor cars. The car was delivered to Auto Restorations in 2020 where it underwent the final assembly. The twin cam engine, gearbox and differential were from a 1973 Ferrari 365 GT4. The twin cam heads were redesigned to accommodate the six downdraught Webber carburetors, replicating the 365 Daytona engine, increasing the horsepower to 310 BHP pushing the 985 kilo car to eye watering speeds.
The engine was then completely rebuilt, dyno tested and installed into the car. A bespoke exhaust system was designed, developed and created around the engine bay with soundproofing, heat shields and the historically accurate, efficient exhaust snaps.
During this three year period, the continual attention to detail of the work carried out was exceptional. Improvements have been made to make the car as usable as possible including narrowing the tunnel to allow the seats to be placed more centrally, creating improved headroom. By using a drop-down adjustable pedal box more length has been achieved also enabling a taller person to drive the vehicle comfortably. With adjustable electric power steering also added, the car is easy to maneuver.
This rare Ferrari 250SWB revival is the result of a total commitment by both the owner and a dedicated team of master craftsmen to create this stunning work of art
