For the Fashionista

The ‘Arvid’ raincoat is made by the Swedish company Stutterheim Raincoats. Yes, Åsögatan is a long way from the Aldgate Underground station, but its Savile Row quality travels well. What’s the Swedish for: “Can I have your inside leg measurement, sir?”

With its countless small shops and boutiques, London is an ideal venue for Christmas shopping: but where can you find the really special and unusual gifts? Classic Driver is out and about in the Capital, and will be suggesting a new gift idea every day.

For the Young at Heart

Made of solid teak, the table is hand-crafted from sustainable wood. It’s practical, too: remove the net and then cover the playing surface with the optional plain top and one’s dinner party problems are solved, as it swiftly converts to a stylish dining room table.

For the Vintage Poster Collector

Goodyear’s poster, describing its products as ‘The Finest Tyres in the World’, is one of a series titled ‘Great Names are Born of Great Achievements’. Quite what Major General James P. Wolfe’s victory over the French at Quebec in 1759 has to do with car tyres is uncertain, though. One over on Michelin, we assume.

For the Christmas Dinner Party Host

Each cracker contains a different gift in hallmarked Asprey sterling silver. The host can choose from 12 different designs, ranging from the ‘Cracker With Bottle Stopper’ to the ‘Cracker With Heart Pill Box'. The latter might be of interest to the hard-pressed host as each cracker costs £180.00.

For the Foxy Traveller

The Holford bag is hand-made in Devon and made from full grain leather processed at Britain’s last remaining oak bark tannery. The bag can be ordered by mail or in person, at the company’s Christmas-time pop-up shop in Mayfair.

For the Ferrari Enthusiast

The design of the cufflinks is that of a typical ignition key and barrel from a 1960s V12 Ferrari. And they couldn’t really be any more authentic, given that they are made from 'RFM' (‘Real Ferrari Metal’). Also available in the RFM series is a pair of cufflinks which resemble the unmistakable carburettor trumpets of a Ferrari V12.

For the Macgyver Type

If you have a friend who loves to solve the simple technical problems of everyday life – such as defusing bombs, or building missiles from gas cylinders – the sort of thing that everyone needs to do now and again (just like the all-American action hero MacGyver)… well, do keep this pocket knife in mind as a possible gift. It might come in handy.

For the Big Game Hunter

In the film, our hero uses the twin-barrelled rifle (firing a .50-calibre bullet, not a shotgun cartridge, please note) in the final sequences, set on his family estate in Scotland. Without giving too much away, whoever is on the other end of it meets a sticky end. And a glance at a 500 Nitro Express round standing alongside a 12-gauge shotgun cartridge is likely to give anyone nightmares: it positively dwarfs it.

We’re not quite sure when you’d use it, but a visit to Anderson Wheeler will put one of these hand-made, big game-hunting rifles in your hands.

For the Outdoor Sportsman

With its double glass decanters and eight pewter cups, it will certainly make anyone the centre of attention on a Boxing Day shoot. And while guests are imbibing, they can enjoy another pursuit now mostly limited to the outdoors: smoking a fine Havana. The Gentleman’s Shooting Companion has an inbuilt humidor for eight Corona No 5 cigars.
