The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1957 and was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dashboard. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to be so fitted. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 and subsequent TR3A's became known for their superior braking ability making it an autocross favourite. In 1957, the TR3 was replaced by an updated version, the TR3A, which included new wide front grille, exterior door handles, lockable boot handle and came with a full toolkit as standard, although the TR3A's still retained the 1991cc engine.

Completed on 3rd September 1958, this TR3A was built in left-hand specification and destined for Canada. Ordered in Signal red with black interior along with the optional extras of a heater and 590 tyres better suited for the colder climate. Believed to have been imported around 1990, the owner had intended to restore the car himself but sadly died in the late 1990's. Having been in storage for almost 20 years, the car was bought by Mr. Malcolm Harrison on 16th June 2017 who set about restoring the car to its original colour from the ground up to the lovely vehicle we see here. The accompanying photos show the body removed from the chassis with the various repairs carried out. The body was given a bare metal respray as well and the car having a full “Polybush” kit fitted along with Aeroquip brake hoses, rebuilt brakes, rebuilt differential and a full rewire. Under the vendor's ownership Minilite type wheels have been fitted and the engine fettled and fine tuned further. He reports the car to run and drive very well with the overdrive gearbox engaging and disengaging seamlessly.

Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, BMI Heritage Certificate and a file of receipts. This beautifully presented TR3A is ready to hit the country roads. Consigned by Will Penrose.
