Description
Powered by a six and a quarter litre V8 engine, automatic gearbox, power steering and finest Connolly leather interior with folding tables to the rear, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, still built in the traditional method with a separate chassis and coachwork, was, at the beginning of the 60s, one of the most luxurious and exclusive saloons available. With a list price of an astronomical 67’700 Swiss francs, the standard short wheelbase saloon version cost 10 times more than a Volkswagen Beetle in the De Luxe version. No wonder that between 1962 and 1966 only 2’044 of those imposing saloons were ever finished. The example offered, LSCX55, with left hand drive, optional air conditioning system and very rare sliding roof was delivered new in the USA and spent many years in Southern California. At the end of 2014 the Silver Cloud, then showing 51’195 miles, was acquired by a collector and imported into Switzerland. Since its first registration here, the Rolls-Royce spent most of its time in dry storage and since 2018 only 1’100 miles have been added. Currently the limousine is in very good and original condition and the condition of the interior would suggest the indicated 52’612 miles to correspond with the actual mileage. The most recent Veteran MOT was completed in April 2022.
