Description
Porsche’s 911 was substantially revised for the 1972 model year. Mechanical upgrades included an enlarged 2.4-liter engine, and stronger Type 915 five-speed transaxle. Enhancing handling, the oil tank was repositioned below the right-side rear window with a distinctive exterior filler cap. Producing 190 hp, “S” models received a new front spoiler, secondary oil-cooler, and front and rear anti-roll bars.
Delivered new through Park Porsche Audi of Buena Park, California, in July 1972, this 911 S was optioned with US-market equipment, stabilizer bars, KONI shocks, tinted glass, and antenna with noise suppressor per its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity on file. Retaining its matching-numbers engine, this 911 S was restored between 2014 and 2015, with supporting receipts on file. Mechanical work was performed by Jerry Woods Enterprises, while the body was refinished in the original shade of Light Ivory by Freddie Hernandez of Vintage Sportscar Restorations. A contrasting red leatherette interior and desirable Recaro sport seats with houndstooth inserts were installed by Autobahn Interiors. Subtly modified, noteworthy features include a limited-slip differential, driving lights, smaller-diameter steering wheel, and flared fender lips to accommodate wider Fuchs wheels.
Well-cared for under enthusiast ownership since 2004, this car is accompanied by its books, tools, spare tire, restoration receipts, and a cache of spare parts. Ready to be enjoyed, this sale represents an opportunity to acquire a detailed and high-performance early 911 S.
