Description
The 911 S from 1968 we have for sale today, was made on the year following the year of introduction of the S variant. With adjusted suspension and wider wheels, the 1968 production year is the earliest, best handling 911 you can find. This coupled to the 160hp engine specifically tuned for the S-cars, it becomes a real joy to drive, and genuinely feels like a sports car from the time, and not just a « sporty » coupe. Included is a Porsche certificate, and is certified matching numbers. It has always been very well maintained, and all invoices and Porsche original Certificates are kept in a big folder which has been completed along the years.
The car was ordered by the dealer on a 2nd of May, a very important date in the Porsche History. Indeed, it was on that very date in 1931, that the Porsche GmBH was officially registered as a business entity, after Ferdinand Porsche signed the contract on the 25th of April.
The 911 S was equipped with the short wheelbase (SWB) version from the standard 911. It featured a high compression engine, which was innovative for its time, and was equipped with 2 tripple-body Weber carburetors that were easier to use and generated more power than the previous Solex. Only the S now came standard with a five-speed transmission, an enhanced suspension system tailored to its increased performance, and minimal external changes. As mentioned above, a significant difference between the first and second year production runs was in the suspension system. They widened the wheels and adjusted the suspension to improve the driving characteristics.
As with any 911 of the time, it is special, it is rare, and it’s a blast to drive.
Leasing / Financing possible.
