Description

*FOR SALE* PORSCHE 911 3.0 CARRERA // RARE SPORT PACK 3.0 CARRERA // TOTAL RESTORATION // 5 SPEED

EQUIPMENT
Grand Prix White R4R4, Black Leatherette with Green Tartan Inlays, Sports Seats, Porsche Black Hatched Script on Sides, Bilstein Shocks, 915 5 Speed Gearbox

EXTERIOR
The 3.0 Carrera is arguably one of Porsche’s most charismatic and rare 911’s, born from a legendary shape incorporating timeless lines and a wonderful merger between classic and modern variants. The traditional Grand Prix White suits the era perfectly and presents in first class condition having been subject to a 2 year restoration. Troublesome areas such as sills, wings and kidney panels were all thankfully in good condition prior to resto but the car’s underside now looks as good as the top with detailed pictures available.

The front splitter retains good shape and structure whilst the factory optioned whale tail spoiler sits proudly over the not-often seen cool ‘Carrera 3.0’ script.

INTERIOR
The classic dials and dash set the tone for a well designed interior focused around the driver; setting the standard and identity for many generations of 911s to come. Black leather and Tartan insert factory ordered sports seats are a tasteful and desirable option that defines ’70s Porsches; providing an alluring colour combination alongside excellent comfort and support. The cabin space has been totally retrimmed and now feels and smells like new.

No need for Sat Nav or Apple Car Play on board; the automatic heater control, electrically adjustable mirror and electric window switches were all advanced tech back in 1976!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The charismatic 3.0 engine has been totally rebuilt and what it lacks in outright power compared to it’s 2.7 forerunner it makes up low down – improving the engine’s driveability and mid-range poke for robust road-based performance.

The rebuilt 915 5 speed box is a joy to use; smooth, fluid and well matched to the fabulous flat six.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Timeless forged Fuchs wheels present superbly with un-spoilt polished lips and black centres, whilst matching rubber sits on all four corners offering plenty of tread depth.

The braking system has been overhauled and presents and performs as it should.

HISTORY FILE
Originally supplied by PCGB in June of 1976 this fantastic 3.0 features an incredible history file with each invoice present from 1979 to the present day. In amongst the reams of paperwork to support the cars provenance, the Certificate of Authenticity confirms the original ‘Sport’ specification of Grand Prix White with Black / Tartan alongside Sports Seats, Bilstein shocks and Whale Tail spoiler.

In 2020 this Carrera was sent to Mike Champion Engineering in Banbury for an open cheque book restoration to factory spec. The exhaustive 2 year project saw the engine completely stripped and rebuilt, alongside the Bosch Jetronic system, as well as a full running gear restoration. The body was then stripped and re-sprayed in a fresh coat of R4R4 GP White alongside a full interior retrim, again to factory specification.

Having covered a mere 250 miles since completion, Philip Raby has recently completed a shakedown / running in service in January 2024 to ensure everything is mechanically spot-on.

A rare, well maintained and now beautifully restored Carrera 3.0 is certainly an exciting opportunity for any Porsche enthusiast.
