Daytona Automobil presents the 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera RS, an exceptionally well-preserved and fully documented example of Porsche’s last air-cooled RS model. Delivered new on February 1, 1996, by Porsche Yokohama, this car was initially sold for the Japanese market, as indicated by its C08 country code. Finished in striking Speed Yellow (L12G), it retains its original factory specification and remains in outstanding condition.
The car remained in Japan for several years, where it was exclusively serviced by the authorized Porsche in Yokohama. Unlike many imports, its entire Japanese service history was properly recorded and later transferred into its German service book when it was exported to Germany. The car’s first service was completed in mid-1996 at 2,213 km, with additional services recorded at regular intervals since then.
In 2015, the Porsche specialist and dealer Thomas J. Schmitz Sports Cars acquired the car. Before listing it for sale, a major overhaul was performed at an official Porsche center in Germany in December 2015. At that time, the car had 26,355 km. It was subsequently sold in 2016 to a private German collector, who maintained the car in exceptional condition until Daytona Automobil acquired it.
Throughout its time in Germany, the car was meticulously maintained, with documentation from five separate TÜV inspections. The first recorded German TÜV was at 26,859 km in 2016, with the most recent in 2024 at 27,904 km, confirming its gradual and careful use. The car also underwent four professional evaluations by Classic-Analytics in Germany, each time receiving the highest possible grade of 1. Notes from these inspections describe the car as having an "Absoluter Original Zustand" and "Lückenlose Historie." For English-speaking enthusiasts, this translates to "Absolute Original Condition" and "Flawless Provenance," emphasizing its untouched factory specification and fully documented history from new.
The car remains in completely original condition, never restored or modified. It retains its factory paint, original interior, and all correct components. It was optioned with the desirable Carrera RS Club Sport rear wing (471), which enhances both aerodynamics and visual appeal. Notably, it was also ordered without a radio (451), a typical RS weight-saving measure. However, unlike many stripped-down RS models, this example was specified with electric windows (651), making the interior more practical and visually cleaner.
In recent years, the car has been maintained by Schad Originale in Germany, with every service and repair documented with invoices and photographs stored on USB drives. A major service was completed in May 2023, ensuring that all mechanical components are in optimal condition. The car comes complete with all original accessories, including its full set of booklets, two keys, and both the Japanese and German service books.
The 993 Carrera RS is a lightweight, performance-focused version of the 993-generation 911, built for enthusiasts seeking the purest driving experience. It features a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter M64/20 flat-six engine producing 300 hp, paired with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. With a weight of just 1,280 kg, the RS was significantly lighter than the standard 993, thanks to thinner glass, reduced sound insulation, and a stripped-down interior. Approximately 1,000 examples were built, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after air-cooled RS models ever produced.
This 993 Carrera RS represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors. With its rare and desirable specification, flawless originality, and fully documented history, it stands as one of the finest examples available today.
