Description
Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 by British singer-songwriter Rob Dickinson. Through his love of the Porsche, he wanted to preserve and enhance Porsche's famed air-cooled 911s. The 964 model was chosen as the base for Singer’s aspiration in creating the ultimate 911. Over the past 15 years, Singer Vehicle Design has risen to fame for creating the finest redesigned, reengineered, bespoke 911s.
Known as the ‘Sheffield Commission’ this example started life as a UK supplied 964 Carrera 4 Targa. It was dispatched to Singer's headquarters in the USA at the request of its previous owner in 2018 to commence its bespoke design. Due to various delays in production availability, factory relocation and COVID, it took some five years for this particular Singer to be completed, as opposed to the standard circa 2 years. However the results were well worth the wait!
This highly specified example was commissioned with the remit to be the ultimate reimagined Singer Classic. The Porsche Motorsport North America 4.0 litre engine was chosen in lieu of the standard Ed Pink engine option. Just 30 examples have been supplied with this desirable upgraded unit and this car is the only right-hand drive Targa produced with such. It has an exterior centre fuel fill with horizon blue markings, a 6-speed G 50 manual gearbox with bespoke Le Mans gear knob, Brembo ceramic brakes, bespoke silver RSR callipers, Öhlins sports suspension, titanium muffler system, champagne velocity stacks, an early 911 gauge set with additional ‘tell-tale‘ tachometer that displays the maximum engine speed (RPM) plus green-black markers. In addition, it has two-tone RS wheel centres in blue blood, titanium lug nuts, a Porsche classic navigation system including Apple CarPlay, an upgraded audio amplifier, Dynaudio speakers and a subwoofer.
Exterior features include: bespoke PTS finish in Steel City Blue, bespoke racing side stripe graphics and lettering in blue blood painted on body, ‘Reimagined’ painted on bodywork in blue blood, touring trim bumpers with rubber inserts, an early 911 engine lid grille in mesh black finish, raised engine lettering and additional script in nickel, bespoke rear fog lamps and full paint protection film.
Finally, the pièce de résistance is its interior: a masterpiece of design and finished by world-renowned Connolly leather tanners and curriers, bespoke weave of London RR stripe in dye-to-sample light blue DTS, light blue Nubuck and leather with navy blue twin stripes, DTS & Monza navy blue to seats, primary trim in light blue DTS on bolsters, door pulls, pockets, centre console, rear jacuzzi and Monza navy to hand brake. Recaro 4-way adjustable touring seats, leather seat backs, nickel finished grommets to seats, seat belts in navy, Monza navy to dashboard, lower panels, knee pad, lower sills in light blue DTS, dished Momo Mod7 steering wheel in Monza navy blue, headlining in perforated Monza navy blue, bespoke sun visors in Monza navy blue, dash emblem ‘Singer Reimagined’ in blue blood, bespoke sill plates ‘Everything is Important’ finished in nickel and blue blood background and the Targa badge in a nickel finish.
Presented in as new condition throughout and complete with its leather handbook pack, Singer gilet, Singer travel bag, Singer car cover, Singer seat and steering wheel covers, fire extinguisher, battery conditioner, spare keys and dedicated history file.
