Dieses Peugeot 404 Cabriolet wurde erstmals 1963 in Frankreich zugelassen. Später erfolgte im Juni 1998 eine erneute Zulassung in den Niederlanden. Das Fahrzeug wurde im Frühjahr 2018 mit lediglich 17.854 km von einem Händler erworben und im Juni 2019 auf unser Unternehmen (vormals Eberhard Thiesen KG) mit H-Kennzeichen zugelassen. In den folgenden Sommern haben wir den Wagen ohne Probleme über knapp 15.000 km unbeschwert genossen. Ein unkapriziöser und lässiger Einstiegsklassiker für entspannte Ausfahrten und Reisen ‒ das französische „Savoir Vivre“ ist dabei ein ständiger Begleiter.

Das Peugeot 404 Cabriolet basiert auf der Modellfamilie 404 und wurde erstmals im Oktober 1961 präsentiert. Das Design stammt von Pininfarina in Italien, wo die offene Karosserie auch gefertigt wurde. Das Cabrio steht auf der ungekürzten Bodengruppe der 404 Limousine, so gerieten die Überhänge kurz und die Proportionen gestreckt elegant und harmonisch. Optisch zeigt der Peugeot Ähnlichkeit mit dem Fiat 1500 Cabrio und wirkt wie ein kleiner Ferrari 250 GT. Kein Zufall, denn beide Modelle wurden ebenfalls von Pininfarina gezeichnet. Der konventionelle Vierzylinder mit seitlicher Nockenwelle, Querstromkopf und fünffach gelagerter Kurbelwelle treibt die Hinterachse an und leistet bei 1,5 und 1,6 Liter Hubraum 44 bis 65 KW. Typisch französisch ist das komfortable Fahrwerk. Von 1962 bis 1968 wurden insgesamt 10.398 Exemplare gefertigt.

This Peugeot 404 convertible was first registered in France in 1963. Later, in June 1998, it was registered again in the Netherlands. The vehicle was purchased in spring 2018 with only 17,854 km from a dealer by us and registered to our company (formerly Eberhard Thiesen KG) with a historic license plate. In the following summers, we have enjoyed the car without any problems for almost 15,000 km. An uncapricious and casual entry level classic for relaxed cruising and journeys – the French “Savoir Vivre” is a constant companion.

The Peugeot 404 Convertible is based on the 404 model family and was presented for the first time in October 1961. The design was created by Pininfarina in Italy, where the open body was also manufactured. The convertible is based on the not-shortened floor assembly of the 404. The overhangs were short and the proportions are elegant and harmonious. Optically the Peugeot has similarities with the Fiat 1500 Cabrio and looks like a small Ferrari 250 GT. This is no coincidence, as both models were also designed by Pininfarina. The conventional four-cylinder with lateral camshaft, cross-flow head and five-bearing crankshaft drives the rear axle. With displacements of 1.5 and 1.6 litres the engines produce 44 to to 65 KW. The comfortable chassis is typically French. From 1962 to 1968, a total of 10,398 units were built.
