Description
For sale is this matching number right hand drive 190SL believed to be the first ever in East Africa. The car was originally imported through DT Dobie Kenya (official Mercedes dealer) for a German national living in Nairobi in the 1950s.
The car then passed hands twice before landing back with DT Dobie in 2012. This was considered one of the most remarkable 'barn finds' in Kenya. DT Dobie undertook an extensive 'nut and bolt' restoration, with the aim of showcasing the very best of its vehicle restoration capabilities. The restoration was carried out under close supervision of Mercedes Benz Germany.
The car was restored to a beautiful DB608 Ivory and the leather trim and seats are a lovely red interior stitched and prepared in the UK. All chrome was restored by specialists, Ashford Chroming in Kent, UK.
We purchased the car from DT Dobie in 2016 and brought it to Uganda where we have cherished it ever since. The car has been well maintained, serviced, and is occasionally driven. The car has been registered with the Mille Miglia in Italy and is eligible to participate in the annual Mille Miglia event. The vehicle also has a FIVA Identity Card.
All visits to Kampala are welcome and we can assist with arranging international shipping.
Vehicle data card can be shared upon request.
