Description
Chassis No. WDB1400571A241968
The Mercedes-Benz 600s of the 1990s represented the pinnacle of luxury German automotive engineering, featuring a 6.0-liter V12 engine that was both powerful and cutting-edge. It was the first production car V12 engine for Mercedes, offering advanced technologies like four-valve technology, a variable intake camshaft, and cylinder-selective anti-knock control. The engine's management system utilized a shared data channel, enabling acceleration skid control and friction torque control for enhanced stability on slippery surfaces. The suspension was equally advanced, with a newly developed double-wishbone front axle and a revised multi-link rear suspension designed to deliver superior comfort and precise handling.
Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) over a two-tone exclusive Mushroom leather (565) interior, this S 600 was ordered new in Germany in December 1994. Adding to the already lengthy list of standard equipment, the original owner optioned the car with a power rear window shade, rear air conditioning controls, the uncommonly ordered four-place multi-contour seating package, and two-piece 18 inch AMG "Aero II" wheels. From there, the car received performance enhancements by AMG, including modified camshafts and AMG-tuned ECUs. The car was also outfitted with rear seat picnic tables, extended wood trim, and a 300 kph speedometer.
Once AMG's work was completed, the car was imported to Japan, where a Brabus exhaust system was installed. The car then remained in Japan until purchased by the current in 2022 and imported to the United States. Upon arrival, the car received a thorough inspection and service, including replacing the engine wiring harness, water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, and comfort module, and rebuilding the Pneumatic System Equipment (PSE) pump and lower engine harness. Additionally, both throttle bodies were overhauled, and it was noted that both mass air flow wiring harnesses had been previously replaced. Once completed, the service totaled more than $10,000 by specialty shops in the New York City area. Today, this 1995 Mercedes-Benz S 600 AMG remains a fascinating example of AMG's vaunted pre-merger era with just under 67,000 kilometers or the equivalent of 42,000 miles.
