Description
1957 Maserati A6G 2000 Gran Sport Spyder by Frua, S/N 2104, Deep Garnet with saddle leather piped in burgundy, tan canvas soft top. Inline 2 liter six cylinder with triple Webers and a twin plug head, unnumbered but perfectly correct and built. Originally blue with a white center stipe and tan interior. One of just 10 A6G Spyders handbuilt by Carrozzeria Frua in the late 50’s and this is one of the last out of the coachbuilder’s Torino atelier. Assumed to be sold to legendary Rome Maserati dealer and Frua specialist, Guglielmo Dei and less than a year later was relocated to Oakland, CA. Owned by a handful of Californians over the decades, #2104 went from collector to collector until ending up in current ownership and in need of a restoration about 15+ years ago. A full, complete and exhausting restoration was completed over the past 10+ years by master craftsmen in California, including the experts at Phil Reilly and Sons and paintwork by Brian Hoyt’s Perfect Reflections. This stunning Frua bodied Maserati has yet to be shown on the world carshow circuit and has yet to be driven on the world’s greatest touring events, which it surely is most welcome to all events. A wonderful opportunity to show and drive one of the best looking sportscars of the 1950’s or any era.
• Stunning coachbuilt aluminum sportscar built by Frua, one of 10 made
• Unshown and largely unseen in decades, a perfect opportunity for Concours events globally
• An Italian masterpiece ready for the next 70+ years
• A glorious motor that punches above its weight (and displacement)!
