Description
The Lotus Esprit (internally called the M70 project) came out in 1976 based on the management’s idea to offer a 2-seater Berlinetta with a central rear engine. We owe the remarkable design of the Lotus Esprit to the work of Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign.
The S1, S2, S3 and S4 versions followed, as well as the V8, which closed the production of this legend in 2004, making it one of the longest-produced sports cars.
The model presented here is a Serie 4 from October 1994, with the superb color combination British Racing Green over beige leather interior. It has been driven occasionally only in good weather totalling 89.500 Km in 30 years of existence.
The S4 is powered by one of the latest evolutions of the in-house 4-cylinder in-line, with a 2.2 Liter displacement, fed by a water-cooled turbo and delivering no less than 268 horsepower to the rear wheels!
This vehicle was maintained by the official dealer Thierry Verhiest in Ostend, and sold by him in November 2018 to its current owner. The latter, a true enthusiast who stored it in a private conciergerie, always entrusted it to a Lotus specialist for maintenance, the last one – a major one – having been carried out in October of this year. The following works have been done on the car in 2020: Replacement of front and rear brake calipers | New front and rear shock absorbers | New clutch cylinder
