Land Rover 88 Pick-up Army 1978

Shown here is a 1978 Land Rover 88 to specifications from the Dutch army. At the time, these models were very optimal for manoeuvring on rugged terrain. The Land Rover 88, also known as 'Laro 88', was introduced from 1977 as a replacement for the Nekaf. The Dutch military Laro 88 has a different model to the civilian-88. The military body was originally designed for airborne troops. This Land Rover is therefore nicknamed "Lightweight", they are lighter than the standard 88 and are narrower. However, these models were hardly used in the British Army, and later in the early 1990s the Land rover was replaced by the Mercedes 290G. The Land rover was not an immediate success, and many modifications were made by the Dutch army during its years of service.

This example can go straight back into the woods and off-road! It is equipped with several crates full of parts and tools. The diesel models were intended for the Army, and the petrol models for the Navy. It was first registered on Dutch ''civilian'' registration plates in 2001. It is also still owned by the current owner since 2001. The ''old'' diesel engine was replaced for a reconditioned and reliable 4-cylinder petrol engine in 2019.

Under the bonnet there is a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder. It is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. It shifts smoothly and drives well. It produces around 73hp along with 157nm of torque. With the four-wheel drive, it is very suitable for uneven roads and very enjoyable to drive.

In terms of documentation, there are several MOT inspection reports present, along with several different papers from the Royal Army and Navy with many nice extras!

Hier sehen Sie einen Land Rover 88 aus dem Jahr 1978 nach Spezifikationen der niederländischen Armee. Damals waren diese Modelle sehr optimal für das Manövrieren in unwegsamem Gelände. Der Land Rover 88, auch bekannt als 'Laro 88', wurde ab 1977 als Ersatz für den Nekaf eingeführt. Der niederländische Militär-Laro 88 hat ein anderes Modell als der zivile-88. Die Militärkarosserie war ursprünglich für die Luftlandetruppen gedacht. Diese Land Rover tragen daher den Spitznamen "Lightweight", sie sind leichter als der Standard-88 und schmaler. Allerdings wurden diese Modelle in der britischen Armee kaum eingesetzt, und Anfang der 1990er Jahre wurde der Land Rover durch den Mercedes 290G ersetzt. Der Land Rover war kein unmittelbarer Erfolg, und die niederländische Armee nahm im Laufe der Dienstjahre zahlreiche Änderungen vor.

Dieses Exemplar kann direkt wieder in den Wald und ins Gelände fahren! Es ist mit mehreren Kisten voller Teile und Werkzeuge ausgestattet. Die Dieselmodelle waren für die Armee bestimmt, die Benzinmodelle für die Marine. Er wurde 2001 erstmals mit niederländischen "zivilen" Nummernschildern zugelassen. Seit 2001 befindet er sich auch noch im Besitz des jetzigen Eigentümers. Der ''alte'' Dieselmotor wurde 2019 durch einen überholten und zuverlässigen 4-Zylinder-Benzinmotor ersetzt.

Unter der Motorhaube befindet sich ein 2,3-Liter-4-Zylinder. Er ist mit einem 4-Gang-Schaltgetriebe gekoppelt. Er schaltet sanft und fährt sich gut. Er leistet rund 73 PS und hat ein Drehmoment von 157 Nm. Mit dem Allradantrieb ist er sehr geeignet für unebene Straßen und sehr angenehm zu fahren.

In Bezug auf die Dokumentation, gibt es mehrere MOT Inspektionsberichte vorhanden, zusammen mit mehreren verschiedenen Papieren von der Royal Army und Navy mit vielen schönen Extras!
