Presented at the 1957 Geneva Motor Show, the Flaminia became the largest Italian saloon at the time. It was a break with the past, moving from the round lines of the Aurelia to the squarer, fresher forms of Pininfarina's style. The design of the Flaminia was derived from the Florida prototype, which introduced numerous styling cues that were later transferred to the production line. For example, the classic Lancia shield was replaced by a squarer radiator grille, while at the rear, the Flaminia had two 'fins' that matched the design of the pillars. Imposing, exclusive and finished with fine materials, the saloon became the most successful representative car of industrialists and show business personalities.

Flaminia saloons were assembled in Lancia's historic Borgo San Paolo plant in Turin, like the legendary Aurelia and Aprilia of years gone by. The 2.8 version was introduced in 1962 and remained in production until the late 1960s, being produced in limited numbers. It was in every respect one of the last of the most elegant classic saloons ever produced in Italy.

The example on offer is one of the last built and the first owner was the RAS insurance company, the Riunione Adriatica di Sigurtà, which registered the Flaminia in Milan on 25 June 1968. The current owner, a great fan of the marque, bought the car in 1980 and it has been part of his collection ever since. Never restored and only repainted in places, this Flaminia features the rare air conditioning, an almost unobtainable option on a car like this. Regularly used and still with its first Milan registration book and number plate, it is an admirable and original example of one of the most exclusive Italian saloons of all time.
