Description

Lancia Aurelia B24S Convertible 1957

When conversing classic Italian cars, one cannot disregard the wonderful Lancia Aurelia, one of the most famous cars of this Italian car brand. Lancia engineers were constantly improving upon the Aurelia, with new series released nearly every year and constant improvements occurring over the subsequent models.

From the original sporting, streamlined B20 Coupe, a B24 Spider America version was born in the mid-fifties and was further refined production, resulting in the more sophisticated B24 ‘Convertible’. Only 521 were made, and they remain highly desirable today.

This Convertible version is largely considered to be more practical all-round, without losing the elegant lines of the beautiful Pinin Farina coachwork. Producing 118bhp, the famous 2.5L V6 Lancia alloy engine provides relax driving through ample, smooth power and torque.

The B24S was rated one of the most elegant "open-tops" of all time, and enjoyed great popularity, even throughout the early sixties when it became a movie-star in Dino Risi's 1962 masterpiece "The Easy Life" (Il Sorpasso). A delightful example of a Commedia all'italiana where a young Vittorio Gassman drives an Aurelia B24S Convertible with dash and daring during the movie, making it one of the stars of the plot.

As true ‘Lancisti’, the Marreyt Classic Cars team has found yet another B24S Convertible (S = ‘Sinistra’ = left-handed) which is now ready to find to another lucky owner.

This particular B24S was originally assembled in May 1957 and is a matching numbers car with Chassis n° B24S-1350 mated with Engine n° B24-1463. It has had a full restoration which ended in 2013. The restorer chose for a more conservative paintwork in ‘Grigio’ colour (light grey), but contrasted with the desirable dark red, leather interior. Original hardtop is also included !

This Lancia comes with Belgian registration documents, and the important ASI historic passport (ASI certificate N° A1234) Gold Plate category.
An excellent opportunity to own one of the most elegant and technically advanced cars of its era. Please do not hesitate and come take a look at our showroom in Aalst near Brussels!
