In an unusual move from Lamborghini's Centro Stile division, the 2021 Monterey Car Week saw the forward-thinking design studio indulge in nostalgia with the unveiling of the Countach LPI 800-4. A stunning modern interpretation of the seminal 1970s supercar, the limited-production LPI 800-4 paid homage to the original while showcasing the company's latest technological underpinnings.
Based on the Aventador's carbon fiber architecture, the LPI 800-4 employed a state-of-the-art hybrid powertrain pairing the Aventador's glorious naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine producing 769 horsepower with a 34-horsepower 48-volt electric motor. The innovative system, similar to that used in the Sián hypercar, utilized a supercapacitor rather than a conventional lithium-ion battery, resulting in a total output of 803 horsepower while offering optimal efficiency and weight savings. This exceptional powerplant delivered hypercar levels of performance-zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 355 km/h-accompanied by an intense, metallic-tinged V12 soundtrack.
The exterior design, led by Mitja Borkert, captured the essence of its predecessor through thoughtfully incorporated heritage elements. The clean, wedge-shaped carbon fiber body featured distinctive touches like pentagonal wheel arches housing staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, prominent NACA air intakes, and a glazed roof panel that referenced the periscope system of early Countach models.
This particular example showcases the exquisite Arancio Bruciato exterior paint, a contemporary color from Lamborghini's palette that sets it apart from over half of the total Countach production-approximately 60 of which were specified in the launch color of Bianco Siderale. The stunning orange finish is complemented by numerous Carbon Shiny accents, Black Shiny Sian-style wheels with black monolocks, black brake calipers, and a silver Countach logo, creating a nice visual contrast against the vibrant paintwork.
The interior marries classic Countach design motifs with modern Lamborghini luxury appointments. The cabin features a striking Bianco Polar base color with Nero Ade contrast stitching and accents, complemented by Nero Ade seatbelts, carpets, and floor mats. Modern amenities include an 8.4-inch touchscreen complete with Apple CarPlay. In contrast to the cramped cabin of the original Countach, the LPI 800-4 incorporates a photochromic glass roof panel that can be lightened at the touch of a button for a spacious, airy feel.
Limited to just 112 units worldwide, reflecting the original car's internal "LP 112" designation, the entire production run was quickly spoken for. Among them was chassis 11340 presented here, ordered through Lamborghini Stuttgart in this stunning one-of-one specification. The original invoice shows the car was additionally ordered with Carbon Pack 1-a 80,000€ option. It was picked up in-person at the factory by its first and only private owner on 12 July 2022, just eight days after its registration in Nürtingen, Germany. Shortly after taking delivery, this Countach was featured in an article by ramp.space, which presented a fascinating side-by-side comparison of two modern reinterpretations of classic models-this Countach alongside the owner's 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition. This unique pairing showcased how two legendary manufacturers approached the challenge of reimagining their iconic models for the modern era.
The car has been fastidiously maintained by Lamborghini Stuttgart since its delivery. It received its first service at 1,616 kilometers on 31 August 2022 when protective film was applied to the front and mirrors, and an active valve control kit was installed. By 19 October 2022, the car underwent its first routine service with fluid and filter changes. In November 2023, with the odometer showing 3,114 kilometers, warranty work was performed to address minor issues with the side windows and driver's seat, along with a 2,500-km Service. Later that month, the car returned to Lamborghini Stuttgart for another routine service including fluids and filters. The most recent service was performed in December 2024 at 6,099 kilometers. This comprehensive maintenance record reflects the meticulous care this extraordinary machine has received from its sole owner.
Displaying just 6,170 kilometers from new-and thus free to circulate within the EU with regards to the VAT-chassis 11340 represents the pinnacle of Sant'Agata's modern engineering capabilities and a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic automotive designs of the 20th century. One of just 112 units produced, this hypercar's like-new condition makes it an exceptional chance to acquire what is regarded as one of the most exclusive and technologically advanced creations ever to emerge from Lamborghini's Centro Stile division-in a stunning, one-of-one specification.
