Description
The Jensen Interceptor III re-mastered by Jensen International Automotive (JIA) offered at Autostorico is a September 1974 example finished in Candy Apple Red with Black leather quilted leather interior. Having covered 29,485 miles this very special car (one of one) has been significantly upgraded and can only be described as epic to drive.
The car was originally built for a client by JIA and painted in a dark Burgundy with a tan interior trim. The client specified a manual gearbox, and the car was built with a standard LS3 engine with a Tremec 6 speed manual box. He also wanted wider wheels, and this was the first of these cars to have the wider wheels going on to to become a standard JIA specification. The rear arches were also widened to accommodate the larger tyres which at the time is unique to this car.
The client used the car sparingly and offered the car back to JIA, who at the time needed a demonstration vehicle. JIA converted it back to a 4-speed automatic and shortly afterwards painted it in its current Candy Apple Red. The car served as a demonstration car for a couple of years until another demo car was complete, at which stage it was converted back to manual. Shortly after completion the new demo car got badly damaged on a track day at Goodwood, so the red car got pressed back into working duty for a further year, during which time it helped to sell a further three manual cars.
With the completion of a new demonstrator the red car become surplus to requirement and JIA started to play with it for R & D purposes to see if it could appeal to the more sporting driver. The body remained untouched, but the interior was changed to black quilted leather with red accents including the headlining.
The car was purchased by its current owner in 2022 a well-respected historic racing driver who undertook extra modifications and upgrades to produce the ultimate Jensen.
