Description
The Ferrari F430 GTC was developed for GT2-class endurance racing in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili. Based on the road-going F430, the GTC featured a 4.0-liter tipo 131 naturally aspirated V-8 engine, slightly reduced from the road version’s 4.3-liter unit to meet class regulations. The engine produced around 449 hp at 7,500 rpm, paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox for fast gearshifts. Lightweight pistons and a redesigned intake system helped improve engine efficiency and durability.
The F430 GTC utilized an aluminum space-frame chassis and carbon fiber for aerodynamic elements, including the rear wing, front splitter, and diffuser. Weighing approximately 2,425 pounds, it was significantly lighter than the road version. Brembo brakes were upsized over standard, providing superior stopping power and heat resistance, essential for endurance racing. The suspension system was fully adjustable, allowing teams to fine-tune settings for different tracks.
Aerodynamic refinements included widened bodywork, optimized cooling ducts, and increased downforce, enhancing stability and grip. Built between 2006 and 2010, the F430 GTC achieved multiple class victories, including wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and numerous ALMS championships, solidifying its legacy as one of Ferrari’s most successful GT2 race cars.
This example, chassis F131EVOGTC 2614, is one of just 24 F430 GTCs built and sold new in 2008 to the BMS Scuderia Italia race team. Founded by Italian businessman and enthusiast Giuseppe Lucchini in 1980, the team initially competed in the World Touring Car Championship and later in Formula 1 from 1988 to 1993. However, BMS Scuderia Italia achieved greater success in sports car and endurance racing, securing class victories at prestigious events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Participating in the fiercely competitive FIA GT2 class during 2008 and 2009, this F430 GTC demonstrated reliability, with notable finishes including 14th at the Tourist Trophy at Silverstone in April 2008, 15th at Monza in May 2008, 16th at the Nogaro 2 Hours in October 2008, and 17th at the two-hour race in Hungary in August 2009.
In 2010, this F430 GTC was sold to well-known motor sports enthusiast James Glickenhaus. Intended to serve as a test bed for the development of a future proprietary Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) racing car, the project did not progress as anticipated, and this F430 GTC has remained largely unused since its acquisition. One of only 24 GTCs built and campaigned in FIA GT championships, 2614 – currently finished in Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) and devoid of any livery – remains a highly capable racer.
