Description
Chassis No. ZFF90HLA7K0245831
On the eve of the 86th 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ferrari unveiled the 488 Pista "Piloti Ferrari" to celebrate marque's achievement of securing both the Drivers' and Manufacturers' titles in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship. Crafted by the company's Tailor Made division, the ultra-rare Pista variant was, as its name suggested, offered exclusively to Ferrari's Corse Clienti, or client racing drivers, and produced in very limited numbers.
The exterior livery paid tribute to AF Corse's successful 488 GTE race car, adorned with distinctive Italian flag-colored stripes flowing along front lid, roof, engine cover, and rocker panels, complemented by a commemorative laurel celebrating Ferrari's 2017 WEC victories and "PRO" lettering to indicate the racing class. The Italian tricolor theme continued throughout the cabin, appearing on the gearshift paddle edges, bespoke floor mats, and a perforated pattern on the seat backrests. The WEC connection was further reinforced by a racing number of the buyer's choice, in this case number 63, painted on both doors and on the base of the steering wheel.
The exclusive Piloti Ferrari carried forward the technical specifications of the standard Pista, centered around its twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine-the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello marque's history. Paired with 198 pounds in weight savings, motorsport-derived aerodynamics, and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that delivered even quicker shifts when in Race mode, the Pista could achieve zero-to-60 mph in 2.85 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph.
Ferrari offered the Piloti Ferrari in four distinct shades: Rosso Corsa, Nero Daytona, Argento Nürburgring, or Blu Tour De France as seen on this example. While the color selection was limited, there was certainly no shortage of optional extras supplied by the Tailor Made division as evidenced by this spectacularly equipped example. The car's original window sticker shows that over $162,000 in options were carefully selected, including red brake calipers, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, and titanium exhaust pipes. Carbon fiber options were specified wherever possible, including the front flaps, front air vents, side air splitters, rear decklid, engine cover, rear diffuser, under-door covers, and rear molding. Optioned with an equally stunning interior, occupants are greeted by yet more carbon fiber in a matte finish, Alcantara Nero upholstery with Rosso contrast stitching, as well as large size carbon fiber racing seats with Cavallino logos stitched in the headrests. While the 488 Pista is clearly at home on the track, this superb example offers many welcome luxury amenities including an adaptive frontlight system, suspension lifter, parking camera, Radionavi system with Bluetooth, integrated audio system, and inn/out electric mirror with Homelink. Ordered new by the consignor, the clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report indicates that the car was initially delivered via Ferrari South Bay in Torrance, California, before being shipped to the consignor in Florida.
Now presented in virtually unchanged condition since its delivery in 2019, this rare Pista variant has traveled only 3,731 miles at the time of cataloging. Considered by many to be one of the finest modern Ferraris to leave the gates of Maranello, this example is made all the more desirable with its exclusive "Piloti Ferrari" specification paying homage to the victorious AF Course WEC program. Offered only to customers actively involved in Ferrari's customer motorsport programs, this limited model is seldom publicly offered and is an unrepeatable opportunity for Ferraristi with a particular affinity for Ferrari's competition legacy.
