Description

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION at RM Sothebys' The Tegernsee Auction event, 27 July 2024.

  • A striking example of the lightweight, performance-orientated Ferrari 458 Speciale
  • Equipped with a 597 horsepower, 4,497-cc V-8 working with a seven-speed gearbox
  • Well specified, and finished in desirable Nero Daytona with Grigio Corsa stripes
  • In long-term ownership from 2015 to 2023; odometer displays just 10,979 kilometres
  • Accompanied by a stamped service book showing routine maintenance at Charles Pozzi Paris

When Ferrari unveiled the hardcore 458 Italia—the Speciale—it described the car as the fastest, most advanced mid-engined V-8 it had ever built. A bold claim, but the Speciale was extraordinary. The headline act was SSC (Slide Slip Control): an astonishing system that meant drivers could provoke a slide without disengaging the safety net. The result was a Ferrari that everyday fans could drift like an ace—and in which aces could keep pace with the gods. In the words of Luca di Montezemolo, it was one of the true greats.

Weighing in 90 kilograms lighter than the Italia, the Speciale also featured Maranello’s most potent normally aspirated V-8 yet. The LaFerrari’s carbon-ceramic brakes, and a gearbox boasting 44 per cent faster downshifts and 20 per cent faster upshifts added to the credentials. There was greater downforce, while bespoke 20-inch tyres and revised suspension promised unrivalled grip. The reasons to buy one were compelling.

This particular car’s first lucky owner took delivery in April 2014. Beautifully specified in Nero Daytona with Griggio Corsa stripes, it is equipped with optional Alcantara trim with contrasting stitching, four-point harnesses, yellow callipers, a fire extinguisher, and an entertainment-navigation system. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this magnificent Speciale remained in the same hands from 2015 to 2023, and has clearly been cherished. At the time of cataloguing, the Ferrari was displaying just 10,979 kilometres on its odometer, and the car comes complete with its Ferrari books and manuals in addition to a factory-issued Certificate of Conformity.
