About the model:
When the Ferrari 458 GT3 was introduced in 2011, it replaced the F430 GT3, which had won more than 80 class championships from 2006 to 2013. Similar to its predecessor, it was designed from the ground up as a racing vehicle and constructed in association with Michelotto Automobili, the factory-backed company behind the creation of the F40 and 288 GTO as well as many other racing Ferraris.
If anything the 458 GT3 proved even more successful than its predecessor and notably took no less than six victories in the 24 hours of Spa as well as Pro-Am victories in the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
A custom-built 4.5-liter V-8 engine designed for motorsports powers the vehicle; only the engine block is shared with the 458 Italia road car. At 9,000 rpm, it generates 550 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque when the GT3 specification restrictors are fitted, and over 600 horsepower when they are not. Power is directed through a six-speed sequential race gearbox (Hewland MLS) equipped with paddle shift. The entire transmission weighs just 66 kg and, like the rest of the car, is an exercise in weight saving; With almost all carbon fiber construction, the bodywork boasts a race-optimized aerodynamic package that includes a massive rear wing, a diffuser at the back, and a splitter up front.
