Description

In Ferrari's first official announcement relating to the 458, it was described as the successor to the F430 but, in effect, was an entirely new design incorporating technologies developed from the company's experience in Formula 1. In keeping with Ferrari tradition, the body was designed by Pininfarina under the leadership of Ferrari design director, Donato Coco, however, according to British car magazine 'Autocar', the 458 Italia's design drew inspiration from the Ferrari Enzo and its Millechili concept car.

The 458 is powered by a 4.5-litre V8 engine from the ‘Ferrari/Maserati’ F136-engine family, producing 562bhp and 398lb.ft torque at 6,000 rpm with 80% torque available at 3,250 rpm. The engine also featured direct fuel injection, which is a first for Ferrari mid-engine set-ups in its road cars. The car's suspension features double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear, coupled with E-Diff and F1-Trac traction control systems, designed to improve the car's cornering and longitudinal acceleration by 32% when compared with its predecessors. The brakes include a pre-fill function whereby the pistons in the calipers move the pads into contact with the discs on lift-off to minimize delay in the brakes being applied. Ferrari's official 0–62 mph acceleration is 2.9 seconds, the top speed is 210 mph and Ferrari quote a power to weight ratio of 5.75lb per horsepower.

Offered here is a beautiful Ferrari 458 that was ordered new by well-known Ferrari collector and celebrity Chris Evans in the very rare colour of Rosso Vinaccia with a Grigio Chiaro interior. It was optioned with ‘Racing Seats’, Carbon Fibre Steering Wheel with LEDs, Scuderia Wing Badges, Adaptive Front Lights System, Carbon Fibre Centre Bridge and Alcantara Headlining. In 2012, it was sold to Sir Chris Hoy MBE, Great Britain’s multi-Olympic Gold Medal winning cyclist. In 2017, it was purchased by a well-respected customer of Silverstone Auctions at our NEC Classic Car Auction and he has enjoyed it for approximately two thousand five hundred miles increasing the mileage to just 16,124mls.
