Description
The Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 was presented at the 1967 Paris Motor Show, and was inspired by the 500 Superfast but as a 2+2 in the tradition of the 250 GTE and 330 GT 2+2. With its elegant and imposing design, it was the first Ferrari to feature power steering and air conditioning as standard equipment, as well as a spacious luggage compartment and two proper rear seats. The car featured the famous 4.4-litre Colombo engine developing 320 bhp, and was designed by Pininfarina.. Only 801 examples were produced between 1967 and 1971.
The example we are offering for sale is an original European specification vehicle with power steering, airconditioning and optional Borrani wheels from new. It left the Maranello works on the 12th of July 1968 and delivered on the 23rd of July that same year to its first owner : Mr. Rovelli, president of the Societa Italiana Resine in Milan. In March 1972, it was sold to Mr. Rober Miller in New York (USA) who kept the car until 1975. Then it went to the third owners, Mr. and Mrs. Luke from Morgan Hills, California. They had the car in their possession until 2015, when the car came back to Europe as a very sound and complete restoration project. This complete concours restoration was entrusted to CRCS (Classic & Race Car Service) in Holland. This company, founded by ex-Formula 1 engineer Ernest Knoors, is known for its perfection and eye for detail, and this is evident in the level of finish of this magnificent Ferrari. The car has full matching nrs, and is finished in its original and rare colour combination of Blu Caracalla with full Connolly interior in Rosso (VM3171). This is a stunning colour combination, and the paintwork is so sleek it looks like a mirror. The interior finish is absolutely top-notch, and the overall condition of this Ferrari is probably better than new.
This top restoration has been documented with a comprehensive photo book showing the entire process from project to finished car. Furthermore, there is also a report by Marcel Massini confirming the history and matching nrs and colours.
This Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 does not compare to the average ones offered for much lower prices. The car is in absolute concours condition and has a Dutch registration. Restoring a similar (and therefore complex) Ferrari to this level will undoubtedly cost more than the asking price. This is a true thoroughbred in a gorgeous colour combination and a potential concours d'elegance winner. Truly a car for someone who wants only the very best.
