Description
Launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1977, the “targa” topped 308 GTS was introduced as an open top version to the 308 GTB which had launched a couple of years earlier. Penned by Fioravanti, it was very similar to its 308 GTB berlinetta apart from the black finished solid removable glass-fibre roof panel, and the satin black finished hinged opening louvre panels over the rear quarter windows. To compensate for the lack of roof, the chassis was reinforced in key places in order to ensure structural rigidity was retained. The car proved to be an instant hit, and assured itself a place in 20th century history as the car of choice for mustache clad P.I ‘s chasing criminals around Hawaii. This example avoids the traditional red, and is finished in its original specification of Blu Sera, over Tan VM 846 interior. Delivered new to its first owner In Gstaad, in March of 1978, it is an early example of the GTS variant. Fitted with the F106 AS 20 engine, it features wet sump lubrication, and quad Weber carburettors pushing out 240bhp. Featuring all its books and tools, this is a spectacular, matching numbers example of Ferrari’s 70’s and 80s bestseller. Optional Equipment:
Borletti Air Conditioning
Metallic Paint
Large front spoiler
Head unit
