The Ferrari 275 GTB/6C offered here, chassis 08577, was constructed in May 1966. Configured in what is now considered to be one of the most desirable configurations, this GTB left the factory sporting a ‘Long Nose’ Scaglietti body, torque tube on the transaxle, and most importantly six Weber 40 DCN9 carburettors. The body was coated in the elegant colour of Amaranto (Salchi 20-R-1888), which was complemented by Beige Connolly (VM 3309) leather upholstery.

Later delivered on 23 June 1966, the Ferrari was destined for Belgium, and arrived at the importer and concessionaire Garage Francorchamps. Sold new to the first owner, Freddy Damman, this 275 GTB remained in his care until he sold the car in 1968. It was then exported to the United States, where Walter D. Ward of Los Angeles became the second owner.

In 1978, the body was painted in metallic brown by Ward. He retained chassis 08577 for 20 years, before parting ways in 1989 when the car was exported to Switzerland and sold to the third owner, Ralf Ludwig. In 1998, Ludwig sold the car to Tiziano Carugati Automobiles of Geneva, and near the turn of the century, the car was acquired by a Belgian collector.

Remaining in a very well-preserved state, the previous owner had this 275 GTB/6C sent to the world-renowned restoration workshop, Bacchelli & Villa of Italy. There, the car was completely stripped to bare metal and repainted in its factory-correct colour of Amaranto. The engine and other mechanical components were rebuilt by Autofficina Sauro, with Luppi sourcing and trimming the cabin in the correct Beige leather.

During the restoration, the consignor acquired the car, and following its completion the 275 GTB was sent to Ferrari Classiche, who awarded a Certificato di Autenticità on 16 November 2005. As stated in the accompanying “Red Book”, chassis 08577 retains its matching-numbers engine and transaxle. Ferrari Classiche reinspected this car in May 2024, and a revised Red Book will follow post-sale.

Adored and carefully maintained by the consignor over the past two decades, this 275 GTB attended both the 60th and 70th Anniversary celebrations of Ferrari at its home in Maranello in 2007 and 2017, winning best in class on both occasions. The Ferrari also attended the Salvarola Terme Concours of Elegance in 2007. Exhibited at the Cavallino Classic in Modena earlier this year, chassis 08577 left the concours having won the Platinum Award.

The Ferrari is accompanied by a restoration folder, and a report from Ferrari marque expert Marcel Massini. As per the invoices on file, the consignor had major engine work completed by Sauro in November 2015. Today, the car presents beautifully as a true testament to the quality of its restoration nearly 20 years ago. This 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C is highly eligible for prestigious events such as the Ferrari Cavalcade Classiche, Rallye des Légendes, Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach and Abu Dhabi, as well as the Modena Cento Ore.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/auctions/tc24/.
