Description
The 250 Series from the 1950s and early 60s formed the mainstay of Ferrari’s street Gran Turismo’s. In 1960 the 250 PF Coupé, strictly a 2-seater, was replaced by the larger 250 GTE 2 + 2. It was, at that time, completely new territory for Ferrari and the largest car to leave Maranello up to that moment. Also, it was more luxuriously appointed than all preceding models. With this new 250, the Ferrari customer base experienced a most welcome enlargement. Suddenly (well-off) heads-of-families could indulge in Ferrari motoring together with their families. The second series example we are proud to offer, was completed on the 1st of March 1962 and delivered to Garage La Rotonda in Prato on the 20th of March. The first registration followed on the 24th of March in Florence. Since the original number plates got lost, a new registration - the one now entered in the car’s documentation - took place in November 1963 together with new plates. In 1964, the car was sold to its second Italian owner who, 10 years later, sold the car to an American soldier. He imported the Ferrari GTE into the USA and, in 1979, sold it to a Ferrari fan in phoenix AZ. In 1985, the Ferrari was then sold to the next enthusiast in Glendale. This gentleman thoroughly enjoyed his Ferrari 250 and occasionally took part in events. Towards the end of the 90s he had it repainted from the original Grigio Argento to red. After his death, the beautiful coupé was taken over, in 2022, by the vendor, a renowned Ferrari collector, and imported into Switzerland. He immediately had the 250 transported to Modena where it was completely restored and overhauled. The coachwork restoration was taken care of by the specialists from Bellei e Reggiani and the engine and the rest of the mechanics were sorted by Diena & Silingardi‘s Sport Auto Modena. The interior was restored by the well known Tappezzeria Luppi. Around 18 months and more than 200’000 Euro later, the now back to its original silver Coupé returned to Switzerland and received a Veteran MOT in May 2024 followed by its registration. We therefore now offer the chance to acquire a splendid 250 GTE with matching numbers, known history and in outstanding condition, a must for any true Ferraristo.
