Description

In 1964 Dodge presented a study of a sporting coupe which, following current fashion, was equipped with a fastback body and a rather large radiator grill all aiming at a younger clientele. After an experimental small series in 1965 the first real Charger had its Premiere in autumn of 1966. After a complete redesign in 1968 and some facelifts in the following years, the 1971 Charger finally received a completely new body and was the last year in which the legendary and powerful 426 Hemi and 440 engines, both with the torque of a locomotive, were available. Forced by more stringent emission legislation and excessive insurance rates, other manufacturers had already stopped production of their high-power engines and specific model lines. The Charger offered with its 375 hp 7.2 litre V8 is one of those rare last series examples. Equipped with the coveted R/T (road and track) pack, automatic gearbox and rare vinyl roof (Gator grain roof) it is one of only 10 cars to leave the factory with this engine and colour (GF7 “dark green”) combination. The car was sold to its first owner in Louisiana in February 1971, who remained loyal to it for a very long time and had it restored in the late 1990s. In 2012, the Charger was acquired by a Swiss enthusiast, imported and completely restored to Swiss standards over the following years. In 2015, shortly after completion, the muscle car was acquired by the consignor, an absolute Mopar fan. He enjoyed driving the car and, as the available receipts show, always ensured that it was properly maintained. This rare Charger is now with its third owner and is fully documented from new. There are proofs for the complete restoration as well as receipts for the maintainance. The Charger has only covered 64’000 miles and is in in very good, absolutely original condition and will be handed over to a new enthusiast with the last Veteran MOT performed in August 2020.
