The BMW Z1, unveiled in 1987, was the first car in BMW's "Z" (Zukunft, meaning future) line of sports cars and remains one of the brand’s most daring and innovative creations. Designed by BMW Technik GmbH, it was a forward-looking roadster that pushed the boundaries of automotive design and engineering. Its bold, wedge-shaped styling was complemented by cutting-edge features, most notably its vertically sliding doors, which retracted seamlessly into the bodywork for an open-air feel unlike anything else on the market. Built on a lightweight galvanised steel monocoque chassis and fitted with thermoplastic body panels, the Z1 was designed for both performance and durability.

Under the bonnet lies a 2.5-liter inline-six engine from the 325i, producing 168 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. The engine's smooth power delivery, combined with the Z1's lightweight construction and finely tuned chassis, ensures that it embodies BMW’s commitment to be the ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’. A total of just 8,000 units were manufactured between 1989 and 1991, all exclusively produced in left-hand drive.

This exceptional BMW Z1, built in September 1990 is finished in the striking and rare combination of UR Green Metallic paired with Lemon leather sports seats and complemented by a Dark Green leather dashboard and steering wheel. It was supplied new to BMW France where it resided on their press fleet all the way until 2011 when it was eventually de-fleeted and purchased by its first private owner.

The car was sold by us in 2022 to its current and second private owner, it remains in outstanding condition, with just 4,675 kms recorded on the odometer.
