This Group A BMW 635 belongs to Jean-Claude Basso, who bought it in 1986 from the JMS Racing team, where Claude Ballo-Léna had raced it in the Super Touring Championship in 1984 and 1985. Its new owner entered it in the Critérium Production (French Championship) in 1986 and duly won it. In 1987, he took part in the Challenge Championship, which he also won. After these two championships, the car was set aside, and from 2008 to 2015 it was rebuilt to Group A spec in Basso’s own workshops. The engine was completely rebuilt, with a new injection system, cylinder head, pistons and driveshaft; in short, everything was redone. We had the chance to drive this BMW for the TV programme Automoto on the track at Montlhéry. It is a very quick car, storming through the revs and holding onto the road impressively. When you get behind the wheel, you step back into the racing atmosphere of the 1980s and to an exhilarating moment in time. The car will be sold with some spare parts and, of course, an HTP valid until 2025. This is a chance to acquire a magnificent competition BMW with a notable racing history in period.
