Description

Registration number: AL-82-67

The 2002 model was produced from 1968 to 1975. The 2002 was one of the models from the so-called 02 series (code numbers 121, E10 and E6. The 2002 had a choice between four 2000 cc engines, namely with some Solex carburettor (100 hp), two double Solex carburettors (2002Ti, 120 hp), with Kugelfischer-Bosch mechanical fuel injection (2002Tii, 130 hp) and in 1974 the legendary 2002 Turbo (170 hp) came onto the market, the first blown production car A total of 861,940 copies of the BMW 02 (the 1600-2, 1602, 1802, 2002) were made.
The BMW 2002 Ti and 2002 Tii are the Bavarian icons from the 1970s. The concept on paper was of course genius; Low weight, relatively short wheelbase with rear-wheel drive, engine lengthwise above the front axle (weight) and seriously powerful engines. Many people think that the Ti and Tii stand for Turbo; That's not quite right. It actually refers to the way in which the air - together with the explosive - travels to the engine.
The BMW 2002 has not been offered as a new car for more than 40 years. Yet interest in the popular and powerful vehicle remains as high as ever. Enthusiasts of classic vehicles from German manufacturers like to grab a BMW 2002 for their own collection or even daily drives.
Our BMW 2002 is the popular 2002 Tii version with 130 hp which was delivered in 1972 in the factory colour Golf Yellow and was brought from the US to the Netherlands in California in 2004 by a private individual who owned it for almost 30 years. We now read a mileage of 66,851. The accompanying documentation shows that this owner in the US replaced many original parts on this 2002 Tii. And it appears that the same owner who came to the Netherlands in 2004 certainly continued with this.
The car is in very nice restored condition. The bodywork looks fantastic and the sheet metal is nice and thin. The closing seams are also nice and even everywhere. For cosmetic reasons, the paint has already been resprayed in its original colour with only some very light traces of use. We see, among other things, the beautiful yellow paint with beautiful chrome work all around and to top it off, the BMW sits on 14-inch Minilite rims with the correct tires in the correct sizes.
The interior completely matches the rest of the car, when we look at the quality. How control buttons feel, how a glove compartment closes and how the seats feel: what a development this car must have taken at the time. For the sake of completeness: the chairs are not only in top condition, they are fantastic. The car comes with a workshop manual and parts booklet.
A true enthusiast's car in every respect!
