The Bentley Turbo R was a high-performance model produced from 1985 to 1997 with a total of 7,230 built in the 12-year production period. The 'R' stood for 'Roadholding', to set it apart from its predecessor, the Mulsanne, and it sported a revised suspension with wider tyres on alloy wheels; a first for a Bentley. The suspension changes, although seemingly subtle, transformed the soft and less than well-controlled ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer. This was achieved by increasing the anti-roll bar rates in the front and rear and by increasing the damping. A panhard rod to anchor the rear suspension was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. The Turbo R was sold alongside the Mulsanne Turbo for a short time although the Mulsanne was taken out of production in 1985. For the 1987 model year, the Turbo R received anti-lock brakes and Bosch fuel injection replacing the Solex carburettors.

This lovely 1995 Bentley Turbo R has been fully maintained and is supplied with a full-service history, with no less than 27 stamps in the book from H.R. Owen, Straight Eight, Weybridge Autos, Broughtons of Surrey and Cheltenham, Stewart Walker and others. The most recent was undertaken by Specialist Cars Exeter, who are the Southwest region's premier Rolls-Royce service agency. The documented history runs from 2010 to present day and is mostly from specialists with a cumulative total expenditure of nearly £20,000 over the last 14 years. This work has included all the usual areas such as rear suspension spring cups, brake accumulators, AC compressor/pump belts, ball joints and brake parts. The car has been maintained to the highest standards with a 'money no object' philosophy. Finished in Royal Blue metallic with Parchment leather seats piped in blue with a blue top roll and blue carpets. This car is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires at the end of October 2025, a flying B mascot on a matrix grille, lambswool over rugs, a period phone, a complete handbook pack, two sets of keys, a file containing invoices and 24 MoT test certificates from 2001 to date. These magnificent machines were one of the finest ever manufactured at Crewe and very good examples such as with this one, are fast becoming recognised as such. Consigned by John Tomlin.
