Description
YX1915 was delivered new in July 1928 to Air Commodore Sir Henry Nigel Norman, later commander of the 601 'Millionaires' Squadron. An impressive list of owners would follow this London registered four door Mulliner Saloon which was put to good use according to the original handwritten Bentley Service record. Her Grace, The Duchess of York’s Grandfather, Fitz Herbert Wright owned the car in 1932 and his sister Muriel, (Ian Fleming’s girlfriend) was the inspiration behind the likes of Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. This Bentley is one of the earliest to be registered with the newly formed Bentley Drivers Club in 1936. Restored and rebodied by a marque specialist for the American, Matthew Sysak, this matching numbers Bentley was kept in fine fettle, prior to finding its way to the Chairman of Bentley Motors, Dr Paefgen.
Extensive recent invoices on file will please the eye of an interested buyer as the engine has been fully rebuilt with a steel crank and rods, new 28-gallon fuel tank, steering, brakes overhaled and maintained regardless of cost. All these works were carried out by our team at Vintage Bentley. YX1915 has been prepared complete with a rally trip meter for adventure and is a car with presence and purpose.
