Description

Offered here is a UK-supplied 1968 Mark II Austin Mini Cooper S which has been subject to an extremely well detailed restoration. First registered in June 1968 and finished in the classic period colours of El Paso Beige with an Old English White roof and a black interior, the Mini eventually ended up in the ownership of a family restoration business specialising in Minis. It was basically sound and remained 'matching numbers' which made it a good base for the painstaking, ground-up, fully detailed restoration which was to follow.

When it was finished, it was purchased by our vendor in 2014 to become part of his collection and has since been enjoyed at numerous classic car shows, often picking up silverware including winner of 'Best Mini Cooper S' at the 2017 International Mini Meet (IMM). The Cooper has always been correctly dry stored since restoration and transported to most events in an enclosed trailer. It remains numbers matching and has many correct details including wire clips in the engine bay, crimped exhaust and Dunlop SP sport tyres. We understand that this gleaming little Mk II starts on-the-button and performs as well as it looks.

It's accompanied by a history file which includes its Heritage Certificate which verifies colours, engine, chassis and commission number along with various other items of older paperwork and the current V5C ready for transfer or export.

With restoration costs far exceeding our upper estimate, this is a great opportunity to take ownership of a show-winning Cooper S which appears to be fabulous value for money and hopefully will continue to turn the heads of enthusiasts and concours judges alike.
