Available for sale after a 3 year ‘body off’ restoration and effectively in ‘as new’ condition, every element of this original brand Icon, having been either restored or replaced with new Aston Martin supplied parts. All performed to the highest standards, by industry leading Aston Martin dedicated specialists over a 3-year period. A total expenditure in excess of £350,000 has been spent, in bringing this exceptional example to its current condition, completed in mid 2019 and driven 1,000 miles since completion.
The restoration, covering every aspect of the car, included complete restoration of the chassis & body, engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical components and all chrome work, body seals and glass. The interior also being entirely retrimmed to original standards. No aspect of this car was left unattended, in the pursuit of perfection.
Accompanying the car is a detailed history file including the original ‘buff log book’, build sheet and early service history, complementing the restoration file containing all invoices for the restoration accompanied with professional photography, taken during the stages of restoration, from beginning to end.
Exquisite and evocative, this fabulous example of the iconic Aston Martin DB5 is finished in Silver Birch with Red Connolly Vaumol hide interior and Wilton wool carpeting. Retaining the originally fitted matching numbers engine, rebuilt to 4.2 litre capacity and developing 280 bhp, transmitted to the original and rebuilt ZF 5 speed manual gearbox as fitted. To assist with modern day driving conditions, power assisted steering and an auxiliary electric cooling fan have been fitted.
Frequently referred to as the ‘Most famous car in the world’, the DB5 was introduced in 1964, remains synonymous with the James Bond 007 film franchise as Commander Bonds much treasured and cherished personal transport.
