In according with Certificato d’Origine this Group 4 berlinetta, series number 18365, is a type 1600VB, it was assembled at the Renault plant in Billancourt in 1973, even before being registered it was assigned to the 1972 Italian GT champion Emilio Paleari and managed by the Alpine reference racing team for Italy Giada Auto.
Talking to Mr. Paleari during his reunion with the car half a century after his last race, he recalls his decision for the unusual color Blue Marine, and the red decoration done by himself. The car was entrusted to him about ten days before the 1973 Targa Florio and remained with him until the end of the 1973 season, shortly before switching to a Lancia Stratos managed by the Jolly Club.
Competition list 1973 (owner's source)
57° Targa Florio N.125 Emilio Paleari, Giorgio Schon DNF
4° Giro d’Italia N.442 Emilio Paleari, Monti Paolo DNF
12° Euro GT Imola N.58 Emilio Paleari 11°
1973 Tour de France N.92 Emilio Paleari, Monti Paolo DFN
During the 1974/1975 season, always managed by the Giada auto team, it competed in minor races, mostly hill climbs, changing its livery from withe, red and French blue several times.
The current owner found the car disassembled in boxes and in restoration condition in 2018, he undertook a restoration that lasted about four years, having the body restored by resin workers in France and bringing it back to its former first Gr. VI set-up in the "Carabinieri" livery selected by the first owner Emilio Paleari, all respecting its originality by using as many parts as possible from the boxes, with an eye to mechanics rather than cosmetics as is appropriate for a racing veteran.
Today this splendid Renault Alpine 1800 Gr. IV d'usine is in splendid shape and has an Aci/Csai certification a complete restoration dossier and a good racing history documented photographically, also present is the book Renault Alpine A100 les Blues Italiens between page 45 on page 53.
