It goes without saying that the Alfa Romeo RZ is a very special car. Based on the closed version, the SZ, the RZ still differs in quite a few points. Not only in appearance, but also in production number, the convertible is a lot more exclusive. Only 278 pieces were produced of this and more than 1000 pieces of the SZ. To find a perfect example of which the story is known, comes from a collection, has been well maintained by a specialist, and also in the right color, called Rosso Alfa, then this may be the car to expand your hobby with.

Delivered to a German Alfa Romeo dealer in 1993, this RZ, with production number 99, was stored and not registered. The well-known Dutch Alfa dealer Sam van Lingen took over the car in 1996 and sold it to one of their customers. In 2008, the car was bought back and stored in Sam’s collection. This time until 2018, when the current and second private owner added the RZ to his collection of Alfa Romeo’s. The mileage was 48.700 km at the time. The current mileage is 51.933 km.

The car was meticulously maintained by (former Alfa Romeo dealer) Valk from Rijssen. The right address for real enthusiasts’ cars that originate from Italy. Of course, all invoices are present. For example, in addition to normal maintenance, the tires were replaced (of course by the well-known Pirelli Cinturato P7) and the timing belt as well.
And then the driving… it is really enjoyable to drive open, but when this is combined with being able to listen to the wonderful “Busso” 3.0 liter V-6, one of the best engines Alfa has ever made, then the party is almost complete. Almost, because we must add to this the great driving characteristics. Based on the chassis of the Alfa 75, which also excelled in its fantastic roadholding, the RZ has been given a big boost in the form of advanced KONI shock absorbers that are also height-adjustable. Very convenient to avoid a scratch on the underside when you have to pass a bumpy road. Not that you have anything to do with a car like this in such area, because it feels more at home on wonderful flat tarmac roads with as many bends as possible. That’s where this unique, almost concept-car-looking convertible is built for.
In summary, we can safely say that this Alfa Romeo RZ is a real collector’s car that fits into any collection, but that it is mainly a car for enthusiasts who value exclusivity and stability of value, but who are also real drivers and who love nothing more than to really enjoy their car. HISTORY
The Alfa Romeo RZ is the open version of the Alfa Romeo SZ. The SZ is the production version of the “ES-30” concept car. That stands for Experimental Sportscar – 3.0 litre. SZ stands for Sprint Zagato and RZ, not surprisingly, for Roadster Zagato. Although the world-famous logo of Studio Zagato adorns the side of the RZ, they are not responsible for the design. The body was designed by Walter da Silva and Alberto Bertelli, Zagato only added a few small details and was responsible for the assembly of first the SZ and later the RZ. The SZ and RZ are built on a shortened Alfa Romeo 75 platform. The body is made entirely of fiberglass.
Although at first glance it seems as if the RZ is nothing more than an SZ with a canvas roof, they are completely different cars. The creation of the RZ required no fewer than 500 different parts compared to the SZ.
Both cars were praised at the time for their fantastic driving characteristics and the great 3.0 V6 Busso engine. The transmission also received compliments. Where the transmission in the 75 3.0 was known for its difficult downshifting, Alfa Romeo had solved this problem in the RZ, and it now shifts perfectly. Alfa intended to build 350 RZs on top of the 1,000 SZs. In the end, only 278 RZs were built. This makes it a very exclusive car.

VERKOOPINFORMATIE
Het behoeft geen betoog dat de Alfa Romeo RZ een heel bijzondere auto is. Gebaseerd op de gesloten versie, de SZ, verschilt de RZ toch nog op een heel aantal punten. Niet alleen qua uiterlijk, maar ook in productieaantal is de de cabrio een stuk exclusiever. Hiervan zijn er slechts 278 stuks geproduceerd en van de SZ ruim 1000 stuks. Om dan een perfect exemplaar te vinden waarvan het verhaal bekend is, uit collectie komt, prima onderhouden is door een specialist, en ook nog in dé kleur, Rosso Alfa genaamd, dan is dit wellicht de auto om uw hobby mee uit te breiden.

In 1993 geleverd geleverd aan een Duitse Alfa Romeo dealer, werd deze RZ, met productienummer 99, gestald en niet geregistreerd. De bekende Nederlandse Alfa dealer Sam van Lingen nam de auto in 1996 over en verkocht hem aan een van hun klanten. In 2008 werd de auto teruggekocht en gestald in de verzameling van Sam. Ditmaal tot in 2018 de huidige en dus tweede particuliere eigenaar de RZ toevoegde aan zijn uit louter Alfa Romeo’s bestaande collectie. De kilometerstand was toen 48.700 km. De huidige kilometerstand is 51.933 km.

De auto werd minutieus onderhouden door (ex Alfa Romeo dealer) Valk uit Rijssen. Het juiste adres voor echte liefhebbersauto’s die hun oorsprong in Italië hebben liggen. Vanzelfsprekend zijn alle facturen aanwezig. Zo werden buiten het normale onderhoud om, onder andere de banden vervangen (natuurlijk door de bekende Pirelli Cinturato P7) en idem de distributieriem.

En dan het rijden…het is echt genieten van het open rijden, maar als dit gecombineerd wordt met het kunnen luisteren naar heerlijke “Busso” 3.0 liter V-6, een van de beste motoren die Alfa ooit heeft gemaakt, dan is het feest bijna compleet. Want hier moeten we nog aan toevoegen de geweldige rijeigenschappen. Gebaseerd op het onderstel van de Alfa 75, die overigens ook al uitblonk door zijn fantastische wegligging, is er bij de RZ nog een flinke schep bovenop gedaan in de vorm van geavanceerde KONI schokdempers die overigens ook nog in hoogte verstelbaar zijn. Makkelijk bij de tegenwoordig alom aanwezig en soms belachelijk hoge drempels. Niet dat u iets in een woonwijk te zoeken hebt met een auto als deze, want hij voelt zich beter thuis om heerlijke vlakke asfaltwegen met zoveel mogelijk bochten. Dan komt deze unieke, bijna als een conceptauto uitziende, cabriolet volledig tot zijn recht.

Samenvattend kunnen we rustig stellen dat deze Alfa Romeo RZ een hele echte verzamelaarsauto is die in elke collectie past, maar dat het vooral een auto is voor liefhebbers die prijs stellen op exclusiviteit een waardevastheid, maar daarnaast ook echte rijders zijn, en niets liever doen echt van hun auto genieten. U bent van harte welkom dit aan den lijve te ondervinden.

De body is helemaal van kunststof. Hoewel het op het eerste oog lijkt alsof de RZ niet meer is dan een SZ met een canvas dak, zijn het toch compleet verschillende auto’s. Voor de totstandkoming van de RZ waren maar liefst 500 verschillende onderdelen nodig ten opzichte van de SZ. Beide auto’s werden indertijd geroemd om hun fantastische rijeigenschappen en de geweldige 3.0 V6 Busso motor.

Ook de transmissie kon op complimenten rekenen. Waar de transmissie in de 75 3.0 bekend stond om het lastige terugschakelen had Alfa Romeo dit euvel verholpen bij de RZ, en deze schakelt dan ook perfect.

Alfa was voornemens om 350 RZ’s te bouwen bovenop de 1.000 SZ’s. Uiteindelijk werden er slechts 278 RZ’s gebouwd. Hiermee is het een zeer exclusieve auto geworden.
