To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Paris event, 4 - 5 February 2025.
- An increasingly rare example of the Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina, fitted with period Cromodora wheels
- Retains its matching-numbers engine and presented in its factory-correct exterior shade of Faggio
- Powered by a 130 horsepower, twin-cam 2.0-litre engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox
- Offered with a sheet of its factory build data issued by Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo
The final evolution of a saloon range that dated back to 1962, the Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina melded a 130 horsepower, 1,962-cc twin-cam with the 1750’s long wheelbase body. Boasting four-wheel disc brakes, a five-speed gearbox, and a top speed of almost 200 km/h, the 2000 was a rapid and surefooted machine. The neatly updated Bertone styling was elegant without being ostentatious, while the handsomely appointed cabin oozed Italian chic. The Berlina was a very covetable machine—and remains so today.
Build data supplied by Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo indicates that chassis AR 2346026 rolled off the Arese production line on 11 January 1973. Finished in Faggio—a particularly fetching deep burgundy—the Berlina was delivered to Florence on 1 February, although it was not registered until seven months later. Since 2015, this lovely sports saloon has formed part of The Curated Collection in Belgium. Beautifully presented in its factory-correct colour scheme and retaining its matching-numbers engine, the 2000 sits on period Cromodora Turbina alloy wheels, while a set of chromed hubcaps for steel wheels is included. A very attractive example, this Alfa Romeo has been carefully preserved and virtually unused over the past decade.
