Description
"The hugely charismatic Dax 427 has remained the undisputed market leader for more than 25 years and has steadily established itself as a much sought after classic sports car in its own right. The cars enduring popularity owes much to Dax's policy of continual product improvement and painstaking attention to detail. A philosophy that has clearly shaped every aspect of today's Dax 427, from its state of the art technical specification, top quality composite body and sumptuous leather interior, to its deep-dished Halibrand style wheels, trademark stainless steel side pipe exhausts and low, wide, purposeful stance. For many years now the clear customer favourite has been the small-block Chevrolet V8, perhaps due to its competitive price and wide choice of power outputs. But other popular engines include units from the Ford small-block and all-aluminium Chevrolet LS ranges, with Rover V8 and Jaguar units still proving highly popular with some people. It's no exaggeration to say that the car amazes all that go out in it, harnessing the power of the V8 with consummate ease and providing levels of grip, composure and ride comfort that simply have to be experienced to be believed. Even Jonathon Palmer was heard to say, Wow, that's just staggering! when taking the new demonstrator for a few laps around Brands, great praise indeed from an ex-Formula One driver.
This simply fantastic example presented in Shelby Ford Brittany Blue and is fitted with the ever popular and potent Rover 3.5 litre V8, which sounds wonderful through the side exhausts. It has been fully restored/recommissioned by the present owner, as it lay dormant for the last 13 years. The engine and gearbox were removed, checked and some parts were rebuilt or renewed where necessary (the list can be seen on file), some of these include an uprated competition camshaft, four rebuilt Holley carburettors, a new clutch and pressure plate to name a few. The car’s wiring loom was redone and rewrapped as well as new brake lines and fuel lines. The gearbox bearings and rear axle were checked, serviced and given new oil. It is also worthy to note that there are many original AC components present on this fine example, including windscreen frame, door handles, boot and bonnet handles, boot number plate light and the badging. The present owner has been meticulous in his recommissioning, making sure that it represents as close to an original 427 Mk. III Cobra as possible. The result is simply stunning!
