Purchasable car dreams
What desirable classic cars will be available for purchase this year at the stands of Kidston Motor Cars, Fiskens, Girardo & Co, Axel Schuette, Messina Classics and many other leading car dealers? And which brands and models are particularly trendy this year? The collector's world will only find out during the preview evening on February 4 – Classic Driver reports live on Instagram.
Italian elegance in Paris
Our friends from Touring Superleggera have two surprises with them in Paris: a very special, freshly restored Maserati 3500 GT and a wonderful, arzurblue variation of the new Veloce12, which you should definitely see live!
Icons in the spotlight
Just like every year, 2025 will once again focus on some special car brands, models, anniversaries and collections. This time, the special exhibitions include a pop-up garage in honour of the 70th anniversary of the Citroën DS, which was presented to the world in Paris in 1955. In addition to 11 classic DSs, the Rétromobile also features a new edition of the DS Balloons designed by Claude Puech – a wonderful Pop Art sculpture that anticipated the comfort of the "Déesse" with gigantic balloons instead of wheels. The spotlight will also be on the great Delahaye brand, the off-road creations of the unjustly forgotten engineer Adolphe Kégresse and the most famous French Formula 1 racing cars from 1960 to the present day.
The new king of the Concours world
On the Monday evening before Rétromobile, the "Best of the Best Award" of the Peninsula Classics is traditionally presented at the Peninsula Hotel in Paris. Nominated for 2024 are nine finalists who impressed at the major concours events last year. And rarely has the choice been as difficult as this year: Will the famous Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider, which received the Coppa d'Oro at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, convince the jury – or rather the wonderfully patinated Bugatti Type 59 Sports, which was named "Best of Show" at Pebble Beach? This is one you won’t want to miss!
Record mood at RM Sotheby's
After the auction of the iconic 1954 Mercedes-Benz W 196 R streamliner by RM Sotheby's on February 1 in Stuttgart, record fever will also be in the air in Paris. On February 4 and 5, RM Sotheby's will be auctioning 111 classic cars and supercars, and the entire catalogue can be found in the Classic Driver Market. We're more than curious to see if the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM will actually reach the estimated €25 million and the 2022 Bugatti Centodieci will be the next hypercar to join the €10 million club.
Big brands at the Grand Palais
The catalogue of the Bonhams auction "Les Grandes Marques du Monde à Paris", which will take place on 6 February in the impressive Grand Palais Historique, can also be found in the Classic Driver Market. The highest results are expected for two historically important Scuderia race cars, a Ferrari Tipo 555 and a Ferrari 166. Both are estimated at four to six million euros. The auction results in Paris will also be seen as an indicator of the temperature of the collector car market and an outlook on the price development of the coming year.
