Limited Edition Audi RS4 marks a return for Imola Yellow

It’s one of Audi’s most vibrant and well-loved shades, and now Imola Yellow makes its return for a limited-run edition marking 25 years since the launch of the famed original RS4.

It’s a bold choice, sure, but opting for a vibrant colour for your family wagon sets apart those who have bought it to blend in, and those who most definitely want to stand out. Back in the 1990s, Audi first established the idea of a wagon that was as powerful as it was practical with the Avant RS2. However, the first RS model from the formerly named Quattro sub-brand, now Audi Sport, was the 1999 B5-generation RS4 Avant. A car that remains even today a symbol of understated excellence and a true driver’s car that the whole family can enjoy.

Now, in 2024, Audi have set the benchmark even higher with their most powerful variant of the RS4 yet, with its 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine boosted to a monstrous 464 horsepower. Despite boasting enough space for the whole family, the limited-edition RS4 rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and will carry on to a top speed of 186 mph, while Audi’s impeccable RS ceramic brakes allow this sporty dog-hauler to stop as quickly as it accelerates. As well as the slight power increase over the standard RS4, this limited-edition boasts RS sport suspension pro, with manually adjustable coilovers that ensure a perfect combination of dynamics and comfort. This gives the anniversary model a 10-millimeter lower ride height than the standard RS 4 Avant, which can also be adjusted down by another 10mm for an even more aggressive stance.

Despite being visually identical to the standard current generation RS4 Avant, this anniversary edition’s party piece is, of course, the Imola Yellow paint, which will set you back an extra 3,300 pounds, but is an absolute must-have in this instance. If the vibrant shade it a little too powerful for your retinas, the limited-edition can also be specified in Nardo Grey and Mythos Black paint. Elsewhere on the exterior, Audi has done-away with the Avant’s roof rails for a flatter, slicker silhouette, as well as a matt black sports exhaust and gloss black details throughout the exterior. Inside, fans of yellow stitching will be very happy to see a yards of the stuff throughout the cabin and the new Alcantara bucket seats. For a sportier edge, Audi have opted for a suede steering wheel, drive selector and centre console, which is a subtle nod to the first-generation RS4 Sport.

If you’re itching to get your hands on one, you’ll need to be quick ( and a resident of the UK) as just 50 examples will be produced for Britain only. We’ve seen our fair share of special edition Audi’s over the years, but we welcome any chance to reminisce on the brand’s outsanding previous hits!
