Designed by Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis, the original Mini caught the world by surprise when it was launched in 1959. Who would have thought back then that this tiny little car would be produced by different manufacturers, but in almost unchanged shape until the year 2000? To celebrate the game-changing city car’s 40th birthday (and looming end of production) in 1999, Rover released a highly collectable limited anniversary edition of the Mini on the basis of the 1.3 MPI – only 800 cars were produced.
And as we were currently browsing the stock of French marque specialists My Mini Revolution, we couldn’t help but fall in love with this particular 1999 Rover Mini 40th Anniversary. Painted in Tahiti Blue and equipped with the finest blue leather interior with white piping, green carpets, wooden gear knob and the coveted corked aluminum dashboard, the car has the bespoke style and glamorous aura of a turn-of-the-millennium Aston Martin or Bentley, but delivered in a practical pocket rocket format and at a way more affordable price. Recently, we could not help but notice that late-1990s Minis are having a revival – and with just 15.000 kilometres on the clock, this little stunner ticks all boxes!
