GM just dropped their second concept for the future Corvette C10

We’ve already seen a concept from GM's British Advanced Design Studio, now a second has emerged from the recently opened rival Californian studio. Could you get behind this vision for the Chevrolet Corvette’s future?

Back in April, GM’s Advanced Design Studio in Leamington Spa showed off their vision for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette, and now GM’s recently-opened sister studio in Pasadena, California, has pulled the covers off their rivalling contender for the future of this American supercar. While we’re still on the eighth-generation C8 Corvette, the ‘Advanced Design California’ studio has dubbed this concept the ‘C10’, skipping a generation altogether.

GM states there is “no direct production intent” when it comes to this concept supercar, but we have no doubt the old-school enthusiasts will be less than thrilled to hear this fantasy poster car is electric. Despite the lack of any specs to report, GM state this Californian ‘Vette would use a T-shaped prismatic battery, allowing for a lower seating position.

While no less sleek than the satin white British-designed study from earlier in the year, this ‘C10’ concept adopts a more eye-catching two-tone silver and red livery with a wraparound windscreen that fades into the bodywork as it reaches the C-pillar. It’s designed to be the same length as the current production Corvette, albeit a whopping ten inches wider and seven inches lower. There isn’t much in the way of active aero — apart from that sizeable rear wing — with much of the downforce being generated by ground effect and that gargantuan rear diffuser.

Lift the enormous single-piece, front-hinged canopy and you’ll find a (you guessed it) fighter jet inspired cockpit with an augmented-reality head-up display. Whether or not the tech will make up for the missing V8 will remain to be seen, but which concept do you prefer — British or American — for the future Corvette?
