In its over 40 year history, the Mercedes G-Class has gained worldwide recognition for a number of reasons; its attractive utilitarian design, off-road prowess, and bulletproof reliability being a few. Affordable, however, it is not, especially if you’re going for the top-of-the-line AMG models. However, here’s a little secret the big wigs at Mercedes don’t want you to know: the coolest G Wagons aren’t those ostentatious AMGs, but rather the early, uncluttered Gs from the 1980s and 1990s. It just so happens that those models are also the most affordable, and now you could park a G-Class on your driveway for surprisingly little as this quartet of handsome off-roaders goes up for auction with Historics Auctioneers at their Ascott Racecourse sale on May 27th.
