Can Audi’s one-off A8 (XX)L hit the Mercedes Pullman for six seats?

For one particularly well-heeled customer, the six-seater Mercedes-Maybach Pullman clearly wasn’t exclusive enough – so they commissioned Audi to build a unique ‘Extended’ equivalent based on a stretched version of the A8 L production saloon…

Taking the ‘fun’ out of funeral

Arguably, we’d have thought the ‘Club Lounge’ layout of the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman would be more appropriate for an ultra-exclusive limousine – but the European customer instead opted for an extra row of forward-facing seats (think funeral car...) when specifying their one-off Audi A8 L Extended. Perhaps even more curiously, the customer chose the 3-litre TFSI petrol engine (rather than the 4.2-litre V8 TDI or 6.3-litre W12 available from the established power palette) to reside at the fore of the 6.36m super-saloon. However, considering they had the means to fund the years’ worth of Audi’s time necessary to develop a modified-for-purpose spaceframe with the associated revisions elsewhere, we suppose they’re free to face in whatever direction he or she chooses…
