Like any true Alfisti, here at Classic Driver we love the Alfa Romeo 75. Styled by Ermanno Cressoni, the 75 was among the last RWD Alfa Romeos ever built, while also being the final car developed under the freedom of Alfa Romeo’s Italian government ownership before Fiat took over. Therefore we couldn’t resist sharing these two fantastic period-raced Alfa Romeo 75s currently for sale with Gulfblue.
The first is a 1986 Alfa Romeo 75 built to Group A specification and powered by the oh-so-lovely Busso V6 in in its early 2.5-litre form. Prepared and maintained by Brescia-based team BIESSE Corse in-period, Italian driver Abele Tanghetti, aka ‘Tango’, campaigned this 75 in the 1987 season of the Italian Speed Touring Championship (CIVT), securing fifth in the championship overall and second in his division after numerous podium finishes. This 75 competed at both track and hill climb events up until 1992, after which the car passed into the collection of Gianni Giudici, who maintained this 75 in an absolutely perfect state. In 2019, GPS Classic undertook a preservative restoration to ready this 75 for the track once more, and since then it has successfully raced in various Italian Historic Track Championship events, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to enter historic racing in 2025.
The second 75 of the day is even meaner, being one of two cars prepped for the Italian Superturismo Championship by the Jolly Club and CiBiEmme Sport, who became the official Alfa Romeo team for the 1990 season. Designed to duke it out with the notoriously quick E30 M3, this 75 boasts a lightened and strengthened chassis and a 1765cc turbocharged engine putting out a whopping 410 horsepower. Driven by Formula One driver Nicola Larini for part of the 1990 season, this 75 secured six wins in total and finished third overall, putting up an impressive resistance against the victorious BMWs. Recently restored to Superturismo specification by GPS Classic, this incredible 75 will surely be a crowd favourite at any of the world’s historic motorsport events.
So, whether you’re after the dulcet tones of a Busso V6 or the boost-induced lunacy provided by the S1-spec 75, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Gulfblue about adding these incredible Alfa Romeos to your collection.
