1926 Vauxhall 14-40, Recent work has included Gear lever assembly cleaned and stripped down. Brass block made to stop sideways movement of reverse gear stop. Gear change levers cleaned and deburred. Water pump stripped down. Shaft remade from stainless steel to accept modern seals and bearings. Impeller trued up. Main casting machined to accept new modern seals and bearings. Reassembled with new seals and bearings and run in on lathe.
Speedo cable and coolant pipes replaced.
Exhaust/inlet manifold gaskets manufactured and replaced.
New tonneau and hood cover made, and a map pocket on passenger side.
4 new tyres and inner tubes fitted.
New battery fitted.
A new gear change gate was made.
4 cylinder head studs were replaced, and the block face cleaned before fitting new head gasket and replacing cylinder head.
New spark plugs fitted.
New number plates fitted.
Radiator removed and a leak repaired. V belts replaced, water pump and radiator refitted and system checked.
Rear lights replaced.
Carburettor removed and all parts including jets stripped and fully cleaned. this Allin all this superb 14-40 comes with a super history and has been extensively rallied. It is in super condition and wearing a wonderful patina. These early Vauxhalls offer Bentley beating performance at a fraction of the cost.
