"Buicks so new even the names had to be new," proclaimed the Buick full-line brochure for 1959. Gone was the Roadmaster and Special of the past, LeSabre, Invicta, and Electra were the future. At 225.4 inches in length, the top-of-the-line Electra 225 is an imposing sight, with a "wing" theme to the canted front headlights, and finned rear design. The 401 cu-in "Wildcat 445" V8 generates 325 hp and a stout 445 lb-ft of torque through a two-speed "Twin Turbine" automatic transmission. Finished in Code L Tampico Red paint with matching red vinyl interior, Buick advertising rightly stated: "All eyes turn when the low-slung Electra 225 convertible sweeps by." It is consigned from a single owner of the past 28 years and features an older restoration. This very Buick was featured in Collectible Automobile magazine (June 1992 issue) and was prominent in the 2009 movie These Old Broads starring Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, Shirley McLaine, and Joan Collins. This is a Buick convertible loaded with standard power features and a style certainly suited for Hollywood stars – or anyone wishing to feel like one while driving.
