Beschreibung

"Original U.S. list prices were approximately $148,000 making Camargues perilously expensive and, in today's money, they would eclipse the cost of almost all new cars. Indeed, at the time, it was the world’s most expensive production motorcar. The prohibitive cost, paired with the lengthy production build time, undoubtedly accounted for the modest numbers built; perhaps some of those in the line gave up waiting and chose to take the two Silver Shadows instead, five Jaguar XJ6s or 26 Minis! Styled by Pininfarina and built in London by Mulliner Park Ward, it represented the flagship of the Rolls-Royce range. It benefitted from the tried and tested, albeit uprated, 6.75 litre engine fitted to the Silver Shadow (power undisclosed), the result was a powerful and comfortable two-door saloon with acres of space and a phenomenal road presence.
In 2014, this striking example underwent a full re-paint in its original colour scheme of Larkspur Blue by respected service agents, Stratton Motor Company as well as various service items. Prior to this, regular MoT tests are recorded until 2002 when Bentley, London were asked to go through the car. All engine belts were replaced, as were the rear discs and pads. Ride height valves and seals were replaced and additional miscellaneous service items were seen to. This and several pages of other minor works which can be seen on file, were carried out to the tune of over £10,000. Bills and invoices continue back over the years alluding to a history of continued maintenance since it was built in 1980, the build sheets of which are also included within the history file. Correct Camargue handbooks are also included, as well as service booklets with the most recent of which carried out by Rolls-Royce specialists, Chelsea Workshop, just over 2,000 miles ago. Although carrying some patina on the front armchairs, this once jewel in the Rolls-Royce crown is extremely well priced and represents style and individuality on a level hard to match."
